If you can help, please send your donations to Mycah at agnesfanb89@yahoo.com through PayPal.

Cable Positive will mobilize the talents, resources, access to raise HIV/AIDS awareness; support HIV/AIDS education, prevention and care; and strive to end stigma by creating a more compassionate climate for people whose lives have been affected by HIV or AIDS.
Their Mission
Cable Positive will mobilize the talents, resources, access and influence of the cable and telecommunications industry to raise HIV/AIDS awareness; support HIV/AIDS education, prevention and care; and strive to end stigma by creating a more compassionate climate for people whose lives have been affected by HIV or AIDS.
Foundation History
Cable Positive was founded in February 1992 by three concerned cable executives, Jeffrey Bernstein, then with Request Television, Brad Wojcoski of HBO and June Winters, with the mission of organizing cable's resources in the fight against AIDS. Since then, Cable Positive has grown to include supporters from every major network, MSO, system, hardware manufacturer, trade association, media publication, and affiliated industry vendors and suppliers.
Protect Yourself
Education is the only vaccine in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Information about the disease, how it is transmitted, what actions can be taken for prevention, who it is affecting and effecting, and what medical resources are available to those living with the disease are valuable assets in our battle against the disease.
Cable Positive has pulled together the following resources to keep you informed and educated about HIV/AIDS. More Information
The Foundation was created at a time when few people knew that HIV/AIDS affected children. There was no research specifically on pediatric AIDS, and the drugs being used and developed for adults were not being used or tested in children.
About The Foundation
On September 13, 2006, Cable Positive in partnership with Kismet Films began filming the 3rd series of their Award-Winning “Join The Fight” Public Service Announcement Campaign, enlisting the support of actors Liev Schreiber and Rosie Perez as directors. Over the course of 3 days various actors, actresses and public figures came in to shoot the spots and give a brief interview about their reasons for joining the fight against HIV/AIDS.
Celebrity activists participating in the English spots directed by Schreiber include Bernard Hopkins, Naomi Watts, Lorraine Bracco, Eric McCormack, Tony Kushner, Bob Costas, Judith Light, Calvin Klein, B.D. Wong, Carson Kressley, and Famke Janssen.
Cable Positive uses the power of cable television to communicate important messages about HIV and AIDS through public service announcements (PSAs). Since 1992, Cable Positive has provided our cable network and systems partners with PSAs free of charge. Our PSAs have received millions of dollars of pro-bono airtime and support from our partners to ensure that cable television is a leader in the fight against HIV and AIDS.
Their Mission
The Foundation creates a future of hope for children and families worldwide by eradicating pediatric AIDS, providing care and treatment to people with HIV/AIDS, and accelerating the discovery of new treatments for other serious and life-threatening pediatric illnesses.
Foundation History
In 1981, Elizabeth Glaser was infected with the AIDS virus through a blood transfusion, and unknowingly passed it on to both of her children. The Glaser family's tragedy inspired the creation of the Pediatric AIDS Foundation in 1988. Since then, we have been at the forefront of the fight against pediatric HIV/AIDS, making remarkable strides in our struggle against an illness that has ravaged the globe.
What is AIDS?
AIDS represents the most advanced stages of HIV, a retrovirus that replicates within a cell, disabling the cell's operation as part of the body's defense against infection.
The Foundation was created at a time when few people knew that HIV/AIDS affected children. There was no research specifically on pediatric AIDS, and the drugs being used and developed for adults were not being used or tested in children.
About The Foundation
Established to help level the playing field for children, the Foundation has spent almost two decades funding pediatric research and raising awareness about children's fight against HIV/AIDS. Thanks to this research and awareness, as well as the advent of combination antiretroviral therapy, many children born infected with HIV/AIDS now have the opportunity to grow up healthy. For children in resource-poor countries, however, long-term survival is still a dream.
"It is unthinkable and grotesque that we make the same mistake over and over again. There should be an uproar of children shouting, "What about me?" But they often can't speak and so their plight goes unnoticed until an outraged parent decides to speak out."
- Elizabeth Glaser, In the Absence of Angels
Peta - People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals
Their Mission
PETA focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: on factory farms, in laboratories, in the clothing trade, and in the entertainment industry. We also work on a variety of other issues, including the cruel killing of beavers, birds and other "pests," and the abuse of backyard dogs.
PETA works through public education, cruelty investigations, research, animal rescue, legislation, special events, celebrity involvement, and protest campaigns.
Foundation History
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is an international nonprofit charitable organization based in Norfolk, Virginia, with affiliates in the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, India, and the Asia-Pacific Region.
Founded in 1980, PETA is dedicated to establishing and defending the rights of all animals. PETA operates under the simple principle that animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, or use for entertainment. PETA educates policymakers and the public about animal abuse and promotes kind treatment of animals.
PETA’s animal protection work brings together members of the scientific, judicial, and legislative communities to stop abusive practices. Aided by thorough investigative work, congressional involvement, consumer boycotts, and international media coverage, PETA achieves long-term changes that improve the quality of life for, and prevent the deaths of, countless animals.
Famke's Part
Famke has been seen several times carrying PETA bags in her every day life as a way of spreading information. In December of 2006, Famke was certified "An Angel For Animals" and appeared in a major PETA advertisement with her own dog Licorice. In an interview at the unveiling of her new ad, she was quoted as saying.
"I think that you know obviously we as celebrities can bring attention to a cause and to raise awareness for what they stand for, and give it some public attention it might not have gotten otherwise."
"What worries me is especially around the holidays, you know "Aww let's go get a puppy, and to the petstore, and they're in the window and so cute and whatever" and most of the times these puppies come from Puppy Mills, and they have been treated poorly and they're very sick. Then people realize all of a sudden once they come home, like oh wow you have to walk them and care for them and oh my god what are we gonna do now.?"
"We have a big problem with animals who are not being neutered and have puppies that are left in places and we just wanna make sure that all the animals are looked after properly. And We (PETA) eduacate people on what to do."
Their Mission
Our mission covers a surprisingly broad range of concerns: Companion Animals works with pet owners, the animal-care and control community, and legislators. Wildlife and Habitat Protection strives to protect wildlife in their natural habitats as well as in captivity. Likewise, our Marine Mammals staff fights for better conditions, both in the wild and in captivity, for whales, manatees and other at-risk marine mammals. Government Affairs lobbies on behalf of animals at the federal, state, and local levels, while Farm Animal Welfare works for the more humane treatment of animals raised and killed for meat, eggs, and milk, and combats the spread of factory farming.
Foundation History
The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) has worked since 1954 to promote the protection of all animals. With nearly ten million members and constituents, The HSUS is the nation’s largest and most powerful animal protection organization, working in the United States and abroad to defend the interests of animals. We celebrate the human-animal bond, and we fight animal cruelty and abuse in all of its forms.
About The Foundation
Animal Research campaigns to raise awareness of the pain and distress suffered by animals used in research, while Investigative Services works to expose animal fighting, the fur trade, greyhound racing, and the Norwegian whaling industry, among other issues. Field Services oversees the work of the nine HSUS regional offices, which extend the organization's national programs into the community. And Humane Society University coordinates all HSUS training activities and creates and enhances educational opportunities.
