Janssen To Star In NBC Cop Drama

Famke Janssen has signed on toplining a new cop drama for NBC. The show will be created by David Shore, also the creater and executive producer of the current hit show House. The writer of House - Peter Blake will also help develop the project. The show is a light drama with procedural elements that centers on a female cop (Janssen.)

Treatment has distributers and set for release in 22 countries

New Yorker Films has acquired U.S. rights to romantic comedy "The Treatment," directed by Oren Rudavsky and starring Chris Eigeman, Famke Janssen and Ian Holm.
Pic received the prize for best narrative in the Tribeca Film Festival's "Made in New York" competition this year. Janssen's work won an acting award at the Hamptons festival.

New Yorker plans to open the film in the spring at the Lincoln Plaza Cinemas in New York, followed by a platform release.

More than 20 international territories have been sold by Edward Noeltner's Cinema Management Group. Noeltner acquired international sales rights to the film after he saw it at Tribeca.

"The Treatment," based on Daniel Menaker's novel, was penned by Daniel Saul Housman and Rudavsky. It was produced by Jonathan Shoemaker with his company Centre Street and by Oren Rudavsky Prods.

Famke Awarded at Hamptons Film Fest

Jens Lien's "The Bothersome Man" took home the top prize of $185,000 after winning narrative feature and the Kodak Award for cinematography at the 14th annual Hamptons Film Festival. "Emma's Bliss" scribes Claudia Schreiber and Ruth Toma won the Zicherman Family Foundation Award for screenwriter, while Georgi Lazarevski's "Voyage in G Major" drew the docu feature nod. Jamie Travis' "Patterns 3" took short film kudos.
The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Film Prize in Science and Technology was presented to Darren Aronofsky's "The Fountain." Pic's Ellen Burstyn received the career achievement in acting prize. Another acting career achievement honor went to Famke Janssen. continue reading...

High Falls Film Festival

Shirley Knight, a veteran Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning actress, and Famke Janssen, X-Men's "Jean Gray," are scheduled to accompany new films to Rochester's sixth annual High Falls Film Festival, Nov. 8-13.
Festival organizers say they'll also honor producer Lauren Shuler Donner (of X-Men, She's the Man, Any Given Sunday and Bulworth). As previously announced, director Agnieszka Holland also will be feted, and will accompany her new film, Copying Beethoven. continue reading...
